Jamie Valadez is a member of the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe and the Cultural Resource Director for the tribe. She is tireless in her work to revitalize the Kllallam language, songs, dances and traditions. Jamie created and teaches the Klallam Language program at Port Angeles High School and counsels Indian students. Jamie received the 2004 Washington Education Association Human and Civil Rights Award in the area of cultural awareness and the Teacher of the Year Award in 2005 from the Washington State Indian Education Association. She is a graduate of The Evergreen State College.
